What material is the feeder made from?
Mrs. CleanHay is made from high quality stainless steel and aluminum.
Disclaimer: Due to the nature of laser cutting, hand crafting and welding metal, some minor imperfections may be present. They are usually not noticeable and do not affect the quality of the pieces.
What is the feeder coated with?
Mrs. CleanHay is coated with a safe, environmentally friendly, non-toxic powder coating. There is no paint or other harmful substances.
How do I clean the feeder?
You may clean Mrs.CleanHay with a damp cloth. You may use a soft brush for tough dirt or stains. To prolong the life of the feeder, do not use abrasive tools or tough cleaning products, and wash with water only when extremely necessary.
Does the feeder fit with all litterboxes?
Mrs. Cleanhay is designed to integrate with majority of open top litter trays. Fits a maximum litterbox wall height of 10.5" (26.67 cm). It locks in with litterboxes that have a wall height of 5.5" (13.97 cm) or more. The Dwarf and Giant lock in with litterboxes that have a wall height of 4" or more.
What is the stability option?
There are two options for placing the feeder on the stand. If you have a litterbox with walls lower than 5.5" (13.97 cm) you may use the first option for more stability. If you have a litterbox with walls higher than 5.5" (13.97 cm), use the second option.
How much hay does the feeder hold?
Mrs. CleanHay can hold up to approximately 425g (15 OZ) of hay.
Do I need to fill hay every day?
It is recommended to top off with fresh hay daily. Mrs. CleanHay should be filled to the very top. Bunnies tend to eat a lot more hay when it's freshly filled. Tip: Push the remaining hay down before refilling and then fill to the very top. Once full, pull the front pieces of the hay out of the openings like you would with a tissue box. This allows them to learn quicker and eat more.
Is the feeder supposed to move or make noise while my rabbit eats?
Yes, some movement is intended to prevent the feeder from straining. If there is a gap between the litter box and the feeder, this might create some noise when your rabbit eats. This is easily eliminated by adding adhesive bumper pads or cushions at the points of contact—these can be found online or at your local hardware store.
Why is my rabbit digging at the feeder?
This usually indicates that hay is running low and your bunny is trying to get hay out. Tip: Push down the remaining hay and refill the feeder to the top.
Why is my bunny pulling hay out into the litterbox?
This is normal behavior as rabbits do not eat every single strand of hay. They pick and choose their favorite pieces to eat and discard those they don't like. You may leave it inside their litterbox as extra bedding.
My bunny has never had a feeder before, is that okay?
It will take time for your bunny to adjust to anything new in their environment, but they will start using the feeder after a while. They need time to adjust to a brand new product. Please supervise your bunny's first interactions with the feeder (for up to a few weeks) to make sure they learn to use it properly. If you have been placing hay in your bunny's litterbox, keep placing hay in there, as well as Mrs.CleanHay, then slowly transition to Mrs. CleanHay or keep both options. Having multiple sources of hay are better than one.
Is there any risk of entrapment?
We place a high importance on safety and maintain a strong commitment to it. A bunny getting entraped has not occurred during our extensive testing of the feeder on many bunnies over several years. We also thoughtfully offer different opening sizes for different sizes of rabbits to eliminate any entrapment risks. We still ask that you supervise your rabbit's interactions with the feeder (especially in the first few weeks of use). Unsupervised use may result in entrapment or injury.
Is one feeder enough for two bunnies?
Yes, bonded bunnies can share one feeder, but it depends on their size and your preferences. You can have more than one if you believe that's better for your situation.
Does the feeder require tools or assembly?
No, Mrs. CleanHay does not require any tools or tedious assembly. The stand easily slides into the main body.
