Help your bunny learn 🌸

Mrs. PetalPlay introduces a new way of foraging, so your bunny may need a little help understanding the game at first. Try these tips to help them make the connection between spinning the flower and finding their reward.

🏡 Start somewhere familiar Place Mrs. PetalPlay in an area where your bunny already feels comfortable and confident exploring.

🌸 Start with treats on the petals Before placing treats inside the flower, try putting a few directly on or around the petals. This encourages your bunny to investigate, nudge and interact with the flower.

👋 Show them how it works Gently spin the flower yourself so your bunny can see and hear the treats fall. Repeat this a few times while they watch and investigate.

🐰 Already a snuffle-mat expert? If your bunny is already familiar with snuffle mats, they may immediately start searching the mat instead of interacting with the flower. Temporarily remove the snuffle mat and let them interact with the PetalPlay portion on its own. Once they understand that spinning the flower releases their reward, add the snuffle mat back.

👃 Let them investigate Give your bunny time to sniff, nudge, tug, pull, and explore Mrs. PetalPlay at their own pace. Even interacting with the flower without fully spinning it is part of the learning process.

💛 Keep it positive Some bunnies understand it right away while others may need several sessions. Demonstrate it again when needed and be patient—the learning itself is part of the enrichment!

Tip: Keep the first few sessions simple. Once your bunny understands that interacting with the flower makes food appear, you can gradually make the activity more challenging.

Before getting started, make sure you have each of the following pieces.

🌸 Flower assembly

The flower comes assembled with the support stem already attached.

🌿 Snuffle mat

The extra-large fleece foraging surface catches released pellets and treats for your bunny to seek and snuffle.

🟡 Stability base

Attaches beneath the mat and helps keep Mrs. PetalPlay stable during use.

🔻 Filling funnel

Your funnel may be tucked inside the snuffle mat for safekeeping and makes filling the flower quick and easy.

How to assemble Mrs. PetalPlay

Insert the stem through the mat Guide the stem through the center opening of the snuffle mat. The opening is designed to fit snugly, so gently twist and turn the stem until it passes through completely.
Attach the stability base Once the stem is through the mat, twist it into the stability base. You should hear a click when it is securely locked.
Add pellets or treats Use the funnel to fill the flower with your bunny's pellets, suitable dried forage or favourite appropriately sized treats.
Place it in your bunny's area Set Mrs. PetalPlay on a flat surface and enjoy watching your bunny spin, sniff, forage and learn.

Some movement while your bunny spins the flower is normal. The snuffle mat and stability base work together to help support the toy during play.

Adjust the dispensing challenge

Mrs. PetalPlay can be configured in different ways to accommodate different pellet or treat sizes and your bunny's preferences.

By assembling the petal halves in different positions, you can adjust the opening size and how quickly the contents are released. Begin with an easier configuration while your bunny learns to spin the flower, then try a slower setting for an added challenge and longer play time.

Treat size, shape and texture can affect how quickly pieces are released. Experiment to find the configuration that works best for you and your bunny.

Make enrichment part of their day

Mrs. PetalPlay can be used with your bunny's usual pellets, dried herbs or suitable treats to add variety to their enrichment routine.

🌿 A few ways to use it

Pellet time: Use Mrs. PetalPlay as a slow-feeding activity instead of serving pellets in a bowl.
Spin & seek: Add a small amount of your bunny's favourite suitable treats for an interactive play session.
Forage time: Add dried bunny-safe herbs, dandelion root, burdock root or other appropriately sized forage.

Cleaning and care

To remove the flower, unscrew the yellow end caps and lift the flower off the support rod.
Gently hand wash the plastic components using cold or lukewarm water.
Mild dish soap and a soft sponge or soft brush may be used when needed.
Avoid abrasive cleaners or abrasive scrubbers.
Rinse thoroughly and allow every component to air-dry completely before reassembling or adding food.
Do not expose the flower components to high heat or boiling water.
Do not place the flower components in the dishwasher.
Remove the snuffle mat and shake out any remaining pellets, hay, forage or debris before washing.
Machine wash the snuffle mat with cold water on a gentle cycle and hang to dry completely.

Safety information

Supervise your bunny initially to ensure the product is used as intended.
Mrs. PetalPlay is not a chew toy.
Regularly inspect the product for signs of damage or excessive chewing.
Discontinue use or replace the affected component if it becomes damaged.
Remove the toy if your bunny begins chewing or ingesting the snuffle mat.
